Odeabank Appoints Two Assistant General Managers

Türkiye’s young, dynamic, and innovative bank Odeabank has made two new senior management appointments. Ebru Vardar, previously the Head of Human Resources at Odeabank, has been appointed as the Assistant General Manager of Human Resources. Meanwhile, Cem Taner, formerly the Director of Credit Monitoring and Follow-Up, has been named the Assistant General Manager of Credit Monitoring and Remedial.

The bank’s Board of Directors resolved on February 22, 2022, to appoint Ebru Vardar, Head of Human Resources, and Cem Taner, Director of Credit Monitoring and Follow-Up, as Assistant General Managers, following notifications to the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency and receipt of the relevant approvals.

Ebru Vardar, appointed as Assistant General Manager of Human Resources, will continue to oversee corporate culture, employer branding, performance management and reward systems, recruitment, and talent management, as well as organization.

Cem Taner, appointed as Assistant General Manager of Credit Monitoring and Remedial, will continue to oversee Credit Monitoring, SME Close Follow-up, Retail Collection, Data Analysis and Reporting, Administrative Follow-up, Problematic Loans Management, and Credit Assets Management. Additionally, he will lead the implementation of the new Early Warning System, developed using artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Vardar to Coordinate the Company’s Transition to Agile Management

Ebru Vardar graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in Industrial Engineering and began her career at Vestel. In 1997, she transitioned to Arthur Andersen as an HR consultant, where she spent six years working on various restructuring projects across different industries. In 2003, she joined Ernst & Young as the HR Director, where she oversaw the restructuring of HR processes. In 2013, Vardar became the Sourcing and HR Development Director at Yapı Kredi Bank, managing various HR functions, beginning with recruitment. Throughout her career, Vardar has successfully led projects in corporate culture, employer branding, performance management and reward systems, recruitment, and talent management. In 2020, she left her position at Boyner Büyük Mağazacılık to become the Head of Human Resources at Odeabank.

Taner Has Been with Odeabank Since Its Inception

Cem Taner graduated from Ankara University with a degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Political Sciences. He began his banking career in 1996 through the Koçbank Management Trainee (MT) Program. He held various managerial roles in the Corporate and Commercial Banking Departments at Citibank, Oyakbank, and HSBC Bank. He served as Group Head of the Corporate Center at HSBC Bank until 2012. In 2012, while Odeabank was still in its formative stages, he joined as the Corporate and Commercial Banking Director. In 2019, he was assigned to restructure the Credit Monitoring, Remedial, and Recovery Department. As a senior executive, Cem Taner oversaw Credit Monitoring, SME Close Follow-up, Retail Collection, Data Analysis and Reporting, Administrative Follow-up, Problematic Loans Management, and Credit Assets Management until February 2022.
